On a night train, a civil servant and a History PhD candidate, strangers to each other, share the same compartment. A sudden power outage leads them into a childlike role-play: he becomes the notorious "Angel of Death" Josef Mengele, while she becomes Esther, granddaughter of a Jewish survivor of his experiments. The game soon crosses boundaries, as the two players are no longer sure whether they are acting or revealing a terrifying truth.
